Coach Gabriel Nuñez is one of two new coaches to join the Heritage wrestling family. Coacn Nuñez moved here from Selah, WA and lives in Hazel Dell Washington with family, Cynthia Ramirez, daughter Kindra, age 13 and son Gordo, age 7.
Coach Nuñez graduated from Selah High School in 1997. While in high school, Coach Nuñez participated competitively in 3 sports; Cross Country, Wrestling and Track. He went to State in Cross Country and Wrestling three years straight. In wrestling, he placed 3rd at 115 lbs as a sophomore and 4th and 3rd respectively at 122 lbs. Coach Nuñez has been wrestling for over 17 years.
Coach Nuñez started his coaching experience as a volunteer in Ellensburg, WA. He then moved back to Selah, WA where he ran a wrestling program for kids between the ages of 5 and 9. After high school, he worked as a Para Educator and decided to go back and continue his education. He received his AA from Yakima Valley Community College. While attending Yakima Valley Community College, he wrestled at 133 lbs and was a runner up at the Regional Tournament and was able to participate in the National Championships. Gabe received his BA in Physical Education and Health from Central Washington University.
Coach Nuñez wants everyone to know how excited he is to be coaching at Heritage High School. The wrestlers are great to work with and have great things in store for them as they continue to improve on a daily basis.
